A comic-book author realizes, while shopping, that he doesn’t have his loyalty card with him. The cashier calls the security guard, but when he arrives, the author threatens him and manages to escape. The police are alerted, and a relentless manhunt begins. The fugitive crosses the region, hitchhiking and roaming the countryside, torn between remorse and existential questions. The media soon take up the story, and the country is in turmoil. The fugitive’s story is on everyone’s lips and divides society, between paranoia and a desire to take a stand, between compassion and fascist ideas.
