It could be an anonymous hotel room or a beach drowned beneath a low, gray sky. There, a woman speaks and confides in us. She lives alone with her two children, Kévin and Stan. She is short of money. Director Muriel Mayette-Holtz adapts Véronique Olmi’s first novel. Actress Élise Clary gives a deeply human and movingly furious performance as this mother devastated by life’s injustices, driven to the brink, with neither help nor recourse. The hotel room where she stands takes on the proportions of a soulless beach, inescapable, swept by the lights of distant celebrations, before everything sinks irretrievably into the night.
