About this event

For this first edition, Dreamachine wanted one festival evening to escape, as much as possible, the social and economic barriers that determine access to festivals. We are therefore taking over La Camaraderie, a new community-minded venue in La Belle de Mai, for a pay-what-you-can evening: a popular space for music, meeting and celebration, with stages that open a dialogue between the shores of the Mediterranean.

DREAMACHINE FESTIVAL - 13 NOVEMBER

GAOUTA live + RADICAL KITTEN live + CHEIKHA + ADARAB La Camaraderie · Marseille Pay what you can/recommended price: €8 / supporting price: €12 and up

For this first edition, Dreamachine wanted one festival evening to escape, as much as possible, the social and economic barriers that still too often determine access to festivals.

On 13 November, we are therefore taking over La Camaraderie, a new community-minded venue in La Belle de Mai, for a pay-what-you-can evening: a popular space for music, meeting and celebration, centered around Moroccan, queer and diasporic artists, and the new scenes being built and circulating between the two shores of the Mediterranean.

Important: this ticketing starts at €8 for those who can afford to follow us at the recommended price we established based on the production costs for this date.

If you cannot: see you there! Subject to the available capacity of 200 people. Come early 🖤

There will also be food on site; ordering one of our homemade vegan dishes can be a way to contribute! 🍄‍🟫🧄🥦

Lineup:

From Casablanca, Gaouta creates raw and magnetic music somewhere between cold wave, post-punk and electronic music. Drums, synthesizers, machines and voice: she sings in Darija about obsessive loves, loneliness, anger and urban nights. It is deeply DIY music, born from Morocco’s underground scene and now increasingly circulating between Morocco and Europe.

A queer and feminist trio formed in Toulouse, Radical Kitten transforms anger into collective energy. At the crossroads of post-punk, no wave and noise punk, taut bass, abrasive guitars and shouted vocals take on patriarchy, gender norms and social violence without ever forgetting to make people dance. DIY, furious, funny and intensely alive music, designed as much for the mosh pit as for the dancefloor.

Alongside them, Cheikha aka Vanda Forte, a Moroccan artist based in Marseille, DJ, producer, singer and activist, brings together rave, bass music, rhythms from African cultures and Moroccan musical heritage. Their work is also inseparable from a feminist, queer and decolonial commitment: thinking of the party not as a parenthesis outside the world, but as a place where marginalized bodies, identities and narratives can become visible, powerful and collective.

Finally, Adarab will welcome us with a set that will begin the cycle unfolding that evening: punk, queer, Moroccan, outside the framework while creating cultural and aesthetic bridges, and continuing the commitments of this wonderful antifascist project that is La Camaraderie.

And what about the pay-what-you-can price?

Pay what you can does not mean free. It means that everyone contributes according to their means, allowing others to participate according to theirs.

€8 is the price we recommend so that this evening can take place under good conditions. If you can give €10, €12 or more, your support directly helps pay the artists, especially those coming from far away, while keeping the event accessible to people who could not afford that price.

It is also a small attempt to reverse the logic: not asking artists to cost less so that culture remains accessible, but asking those who can to contribute more so that it can remain so.

A popular evening should not be an evening where culture is offered at a discount.

It should be an evening where we collectively decide to make it accessible and genuinely inclusive.
