About this event

Luminous paths - Burkina Faso - Belgium

Created during Festival JEST with the AMI team, this third edition of a joint evening brings together on stage artists whose immersive, flowing nature reaches us like a ship that has miraculously survived. Since we know our differences and complementarities so well, it is easy to imagine what unites us—and tonight, that is:

20h - KAITO WINSE Kaito Winse draws his inspiration, and his whole being, from his home village. After moving to Brussels, he founded “Avalanche Kaito,” a griot-punk-noise project that electrifies cities across Europe. Since then, he has continued to develop artistic concepts aimed at instilling optimism and inspiring people to face life’s challenges with courage. Drawing on proverbs and ancient words, his new solo project is a kind of co-pilot for audiences who come to discover or celebrate him, accompanying them on a concert-long journey through life. He will also be joined by a local choir for some of his proposals, such as “digging up the bones of our ancestors and turning them into a ladder.”

Kaito WINSE (vocals, percussion, Fulani flute, mouth bow...)

21h - THE SEA AROUND US Moving between improvisation and composition, The sea around us is a radical, multi-continental project that builds soundscapes of imaginary places. Its inspiration is shaped by poetic dissonances, a cinematic dimension and a strikingly tactile sonic world. Originally a duo, the group expanded for the release of the album Antipopèia, which lets us hear the music of a place that does not exist—and yet we travel there. Transcending geographical, musical and conceptual boundaries, The Sea Around Us captivates and enchants, blending ancestral memories sung aloud with the imaginings of a wildly offbeat, futuristic cinema.

João ORECCHIA (bass clarinet, synthesizer, bass), Mario MARCHISELLA (drums, guitar, piano, bass), Magda DROZD (violin, electronics), Saadet Türköz (words and vocals), Gilles Furtwängler (words and vocals)
