A choral account of women in struggle, a voice long silenced that resonates today with striking force. From 1941 onward, women joined the Soviet army to fight Hitler’s troops: mine-clearers, fighter pilots and snipers. Few people knew their stories. To counter oblivion, Belarusian writer and Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Svetlana Alexievitch collected their testimonies. These accounts combine their convictions, their struggles, sexual violence and ordinary anecdotes from wartime. By bringing these voices to the stage, Julie Deliquet offers a moving production, somewhere between documentary theatre and a polyphonic narrative. In an apartment, between the kitchen and drying laundry, nine actresses vividly embody these former combatants, long rendered invisible, opposite a young journalist. Their words finally reach us, echoing current conflicts, where women continue to pay a high price… often in complete silence. Julie André, Astrid Bayiha, Évelyne Didi, Marina Keltchewsky, Odja Llorca, Marie Payen, Amandine Pudlo, Agnès Ramy, Blanche Ripoche alternating with Zoé Briau, Hélène Viviès
