Let anyone who has never been jealous choke on their great big lie. Since jealousy is one of the most widely shared feelings, husband, wife and lover have formed the winning trio of boulevard theatre for centuries. It was therefore unthinkable that the master of the genre would not savour it. More than a century after the play was first created, it has lost none of its piquant wit, which keeps our laughter flowing.
Michel Fau is exquisite as the deceiver who is deceived and on the verge of a nervous breakdown, alongside Gwendoline Hamon as the falsely ingénue wife-mistress and Alexis Moncorgé as the idiotic seducer. Jealousy at its finest.
