30 years already! Actor and director Marcel Bozonnet once again brings back his strawberry and breeches to play La Princesse de Clèves in the original version. Astonishing. Madame de La Fayette would surely have been delighted to see her Princess hold the stage so elegantly, more than three centuries after bringing her to life in her novel. Who would have thought that this Mademoiselle de Chartres would one day be played by an actor who would also take on the roles of her mother, her husband (aka the Prince of Clèves) and her impossible lover (aka the Duke of Nemours)? This was without counting on Marcel Bozonnet’s talent, who, as early as 1995, had majestically made this 17th-century language his own, immersing us in the torments of love.
