Le château des Carpathes

Blending theater, singing and jazz music, this contemporary adaptation of Jules Verne’s novel draws us into a gripping suspense story. In a Transylvanian village, Baron de Gortz’s castle is the talk of the town. For several days, smoke has been rising from it. Could it be inhabited again—or haunted? Determined to uncover the mystery surrounding this strange residence, Count Franz de Telek sets out on a perilous expedition. Fascinated by this work, Émilie Capliez plays with the codes of Jules Verne’s world. In this musical theater production, created in collaboration with trumpeter Airelle Besson, she has taken the liberty of updating the text to highlight the female characters. Amid a moving set, three instrumentalists, an actress-singer and four actors bring this captivating story to life, from an inn to a cabaret, from a deep forest to the castle. These sublime tableaux reveal the author’s timeless charm and his taste for adventure, nourished by science and the fantastic. Friday the 18th: audio description of the show by Audrey Laforce, preceded by a tactile tour of the set at 6:15 p.m.
