About this event

To mark the opening of the CHRONIQUES Biennale and the Festival Les Instants vidéo, join us at the Friche for a weekend of free exhibitions, performances, guided tours, open studios, live shows, and DJ sets. Wander through the Friche’s spaces and let yourself be surprised by a varied program of artistic offerings.

PROGRAM Saturday, October 24

2:00–10:00 p.m. | EXHIBITION OPENING TOUR – 5TH FLOOR

Ce que nous voyons nous regarde | Les Instants vidéo

The works gathered here open up a space for poetry and critical reflection. They invite us to recognize, behind every image, an irreducible human and political presence. They seek to reveal what the official narrative leaves out of frame.

TOUR – 4TH FLOOR

Désobéir à l’aire numérique | CHRONIQUES

The artists in this exhibition explore the fault lines in contemporary digital systems to reveal their invisible mechanisms. Algorithms, artificial intelligence, social platforms, and surveillance systems become materials to subvert, disrupt, or infiltrate.

PANORAMA

Cartographie sensible et mémoires recomposées | CHRONIQUES

The artists brought together in this exhibition create narratives in which images become unstable territories traversed by memory, exile, and the traces left by conflicts. Fragmented archives, transformed landscapes, reimagined mythologies, and haunted architectures form sensitive geographies where often-invisible stories endure.

TOURS

Tours of the exhibition followed by a visit to the ThunderGolf installation with the artist, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in French Sign Language, then from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. for the general public.

ALSO OPEN – 2:00–5:00 p.m.

Le mauvais œil 88 : Kikifruit | Le Dernier Cri

Le Dernier Cri welcomes Kikifruit, whose universe is populated by clowns, unruly secretaries, and enigmatic harlequins, at the crossroads of science fiction and the bureaucratic world.

2:00–10:00 p.m. | INSTALLATIONS – CHRONIQUES, BIENNALE DES IMAGINAIRES NUMÉRIQUES PLACE DES HORIZONS

ThunderGolf – Kaïs Dhifi

ThunderGolf is an immersive installation from the fictional universe of Metalia. At the crossroads of sculpture, virtual reality, and sound, it activates a post-apocalyptic odyssey in real time, driven by the audience. At the heart of the setup, a Volkswagen Golf Mk2 modified for hostile territories becomes an interactive mobile vehicle. At once a functional sculpture, narrative architecture, and broadcasting space, it brings mechanical materiality together with immersive technologies, acting as a threshold between use and fiction, physical reality and speculative projection.

LE MODULE

INVU [Archipel] – Clément Edouard

INVU consists of seven sand sculptures, each incorporating a wireless speaker and a motion sensor. Designed by the artist Eva Vedel, these objects are inspired by biomorphism. They appear as presences in the making: unstable, porous, and shaped by the forces around them.

Performances by Isabel Sörling inside the installation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

2:30–11:00 p.m. | FESTIVAL LES INSTANTS VIDÉO – DAY 3 SALLE SEITA

A fast-paced program featuring 12 films from Germany, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, and Switzerland, followed by the opening of a Mediterranean group exhibition. The day will end with music, first with a performance by Rochus Aust, a five-part composition for remote-controlled trumpet, remote-controlled monster trucks, and AI-controlled robotic vacuum cleaners. Then Gombaxx will get us dancing with one of their signature DJ sets.

7:00 p.m.–2:00 a.m. | PERFORMANCE AND CONCERT ROUTE – CHRONIQUES, BIENNALE DES IMAGINAIRES NUMÉRIQUES PETIT PLATEAU – 7:00 p.m.

Élégie d’une disparition | GMEM €8/€10 Created by three Lebanese artists—Kinda Hassan (composer), Racha Baroud (performer), and Carine Doumit (writer and editor)—Élégie d’une disparition is a performance built around sound dramaturgy that explores the disappearance of memory, bodies, and territories in the Mediterranean region.

GRAND PLATEAU – 8:30 p.m.

Tuqus – Khalil Epi €10/€12

The word Tuqus is the plural of Taqs and means “ritual,” “ceremony,” or “sacred practice” in Arabic. The word shares its root with its homonym Taqs, which refers instead to the atmosphere, climate, or weather—that is, “the thing that envelops and changes the air and light.” This connection between the idea of ritual and that of time in Arabic is highly significant. It leads us to a deeper understanding of what a ritual is: something that envelops and transforms souls through gestures, rhythms, songs, the sacred, and repetition, in order to go beyond the invisible.

GRAND CAB – 10:30 p.m.–2:00 a.m. €10 / €15

Live audiovisual performance – Chayell Chayyel, which means, not literally, “take flight, free yourself, improvise,” is an audiovisual performance in which Rayess Bek and Joan Baz reinvent dabkeh music and dance.

DJ set by Deena Abdelwahed Deena Abdelwahed is a Tunisian electronic music DJ and producer based between France and Tunisia. She is known for her distinctive blend of Arab musical influences and contemporary electronic music, rooted in Global Club Music.
