Lov
About this event
Deep, moving, funny and dramatic, Lov, based on a true story, tells the story of one woman’s struggle, one life’s struggle, the struggle of so many women. Lov is a show about the trauma caused by sexual assault and the long process of rebuilding and recovery. A restrained, modest and poetic staging highlights the purity and authenticity of the performer’s acting, while music, singing and dance, present throughout the show, offer an escape toward freedom. A one-woman show that invites us to reflect on post-traumatic stress and the importance of passing stories down through generations.
A teenager, a bad encounter, a trauma. September 1982: on her way to high school, a teenager is assaulted by a sexual predator. Terrified, she tells her parents what has just happened to her. But at the heart of this loving family, silence will cover everything. How can you heal a wounded soul when the world around you imposes silence? A victim’s life is a long journey of recovery: denial, rage, acceptance, treatment... But calm and the joy of living eventually soothe the storms, making way for happiness, sharing and passing stories on.
