Un Pied sur la Planche (Marseille) presents
PREU
Medieval clown duo
Through adventures combining mime, juggling, tap dancing, magic and even a fight against a dragon, a “gallant” knight and his minstrel explore the delicate nuances of mutual respect. A medieval adventure where the absurd reigns supreme, carrying a subtle message of equality.
This show takes the scenic route through the traditional fairy tale to explore its blind spots, with humor, whimsy and an unapologetic taste for the absurd. The idea came from a desire to revisit the famous line:
“They lived happily ever after and had lots of children.”
An apparently innocuous sentence, yet one that carries an entire normative imaginary, often sexist and always fixed.
Without lecturing or moralizing, Preu creates a space for play where old patterns are questioned: the place of women, the weight of expectations, consent, and love as destiny. The show deliberately flirts with the absurd and the whimsical, somewhere between street theater and a barely veiled legacy of Monty Python, in its way of playing seriously with the absurd and flawed heroism.
The result: a show with two layers of meaning, light in appearance but running through with profound issues. Young audiences will find a funny, fast-paced adventure. Adults will recognize, behind the bursts of laughter, a mirror of their own perceptions.
Because, deep down, Preu is not a parody of the fairy tale. It is an attempt to set its characters free.
