About

A celebration highlighting Marseille’s unique place in the Mediterranean and bringing its distinctive maritime identity to life.

On Sunday, October 18, 2026, Marseille celebrates the sea along the Corniche and the entire Marseille coastline, with 8 stops and more than 40 free activities!

The goal? To enable all residents of Marseille to discover their coastline, the richness of their maritime heritage, the history of this heritage and the many activities connected with the sea, while raising awareness of the need to preserve it.

A major popular and family-friendly event

Since its origins, Marseille has been a city deeply oriented toward the sea. The Mediterranean is part of our history, our heritage and our identity. It is our past, our present and our future.

This celebration is an opportunity to highlight Marseille’s unique place in the Mediterranean and bring its distinctive maritime identity to life.

The Fête de la mer in a few words:

Why? Discovering the sea also, and above all, means learning how to protect it. The program combines discovery with awareness of environmental issues and the preservation of the marine environment.

With whom? The Fête de la mer highlights those who bring the sea to life in Marseille: associations, sports clubs, professionals, environmental organizations, heritage organizations and maritime enthusiasts. Everyone is involved in this celebration. The event showcases maritime professions, maritime expertise, water activities and the maritime economy.

For whom? A celebration for everyone. Sports introductions, demonstrations, educational workshops and festive activities give everyone, whatever their age or level, the opportunity to take part.

Where? From north to south, the entire Marseille coastline is involved. The celebration is not limited to the Vieux-Port; it extends along the entire coastline, as close as possible to local residents.
