Hope for the Day After gives voice to 14 Palestinian and Israeli women. Their words, collected in the West Bank, Israel and Jerusalem, have traveled to Marseille. Hope for the Day After gives voice to 14 Palestinian and Israeli women. Their words, collected in the West Bank, Israel and Jerusalem, have traveled to Marseille. These women speak about their daily lives in a context of war and ongoing violence. How can they overcome it and move forward despite everything? How can they manage fear, anger and frustration? What hope is there for the future? On stage, a singer, a storyteller and a composer-musician create a piece that combines music and words. Arabic and Hebrew serve as voices—spoken, sometimes translated, sung, narrated and rendered through sound. Electroacoustic sounds—spatialized through an orchestra of loudspeakers—surround, caress and immerse. Carried by sound, song and stories, these voices simply tell of life. They resonate with who we are, here or elsewhere. A humanity constantly in the making. Dedans Dehors | Voices, words: Claire Bastier | Voice, instruments: Catherine Jauniaux | Electroacoustic system, spatialization: François Wong | Lighting: Alexandre Martre | Scenography: Marie Bouchacourt
